...random thoughts from our lives...

bittersweet...

This sign comes loaded with emotion for me. Cody accepted a teaching position the last week of May and we've decided to move to Bancroft were we grew up. Way back when we were college kids Cody wasn't able to finish his teaching credentials and that was always a regret. How do you student teach now with a family of six to support? This teeny school will offer him the opportunity to be certified while teaching, plus he can coach two sports to help the financial end of things. The great hallmark of a small school: coach, teach, drive the bus, serve lunch- just joking- but you get the idea! He'll be teaching history, economics, typing, journalism, quite a broad range considering his specialization was English and history. It should be a challenge for him, but we're hoping not too much!

Being honest, I have to say I cried when our nice realtor stuck the sign in the lawn this week. Not that this is my dream home, but I have grown to love it, especially after the remodel, and two children have joined our family here also. It will be hard to leave this neighborhood and ward, we have so many friends and people we love. The only thing that is any consolation to me is that my parents and brother and his family are living there now. I'm going to miss living close to stores, arts and events, running in Freeman Park, late night runs to Reed's for ice cream, and the stoplights. Dear ole Bancroft, population 400, only boasts a post office, thats it. I think the kids will adjust o.k. though. I'm most worried about where we will live there, not too much available as far as homes go. I know it will work out though, it's just stressful in the meantime. I do believe anywhere can be home and in time I'll get used to all that I used to be accustomed to while growing up, it's just been a long time. In the meantime, please send potential home buyers our way!

So sad to see the sign in your yard. But you'll be ok, and I'm sure your house will sell soon. Good luck, we'll miss you guys, but good thing we come to Bancroft so often! We'll get to keep on seeing you guys.

I guess those in Bancroft are the only happy ones reading this blog... however you emotions are all too real to me. I was coping with the idea about the same time last year and I was heartbroken too. Somehow I guess we end up happy wherever we are if we are happy people, which you are :). We are excited to get you here and will pray your home sale goes well. Love you!

Tanya,
My heart cried when I read your thoughts on this post. I think of that song years ago that Country Singing Star, Loretta Lynn sang, entitled "Stand By Your Man!" I think you have exemplified that. I am proud of you for your courage. It would be a challenge in many ways after being putting down roots and working on your existing home there in I. F. I know the Lord will bless you for your trust in Him!!!

Love,
